The Smithereens Arlington Concert reviews
A nice family event but...
For my father's 70th birthday, my children, husband, and I attended The Smithereens invitational. It was a really fun evening overall. At the show, my kids learned a lot about bull riding from my dad. We enjoyed seeing all the young riders and loved the atmosphere in the venue where there really isn't a bad seat.
I was disappointed in a few things. The p.a. system was absolutely terrible! The announcer's speech was barely comprehensible and excessively loud. After more than 2 hours of incomprehensible chatter, it started to irritate everyone. Names, scores, etc. were completely inaudible. Out of 20 riders, only 4 or 5 managed to stay on the bull for more than a few seconds! Another disappointing aspect was the lack of information on the winners or placers at the end of the show. My children kept asking, "Who won?" They rode the final bull, and that was the end of the show. It would have been nice to bring out the top 3 placers of the evening and announce them, such as "Tonight's 3rd place with a score of 84.2 goes to... 2nd place with a score of 85.8 to... and your Youngstown The Smithereens top rider for this evening with a score of 88.3 is...!"
